GENERAL OVERVIEW

 

The Philippines is an archipelagic state which comprises around 7,100 islands. With the population of more than 104.9 million[1] in 2017 as its GDP amounted to USD 313.8 billion1. The Philippines ranks as the 13th most populous nation in the world. Quezon City is the largest city in term of population, but Manila City is the capital. The Philippines is situated on the Pacific Ring of Fire and has high potential for geothermal energy. The Philippines is considered as an emerging industrialized nation; its economy has shifted from agriculture to services and the industrial sector. In 2017, The Philippines is a republic nation which consists of 80 provinces and 29 chartered cities.
