Best Practices in Financing Energy Efficiency for Buildings: Case Study of NECTEC Thailand

Under the ASEAN-German Energy Programme for ASEAN (AGEP)–a jointly implemented project by ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)–ACE has completed the Best Practices in Financing Energy Efficiency for Buildings: Case Study of NECTEC Thailand – the 1st Winner of 2017 ASEAN Energy Awards – New and Existing Building: Retrofitted Category.  The Study was supported by South Pole Carbon Asset Management Ltd.

This study aims to showcase best practices where energy efficiency measures in building are implemented and highlight the impacts of such activities in reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions. This study also highlights the government’s role in supporting energy efficiency projects through grants provision.

About the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center Thailand

The National Electronics and Computer Technology Center Thailand (NECTEC) was established on 16 September 1986. NECTEC is a national technology center under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), Ministry of Science and Technology. NECTEC aims to achieve practical works and excellence that contribute to the economic and social impacts of the country and region. As a green organisation, NECTEC has been incorporating good practices in its energy management system.

About the ASEAN Energy Awards

Launched in 2000 by the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), the ASEAN Energy Awards is the region’s highest recognition of efforts in energy efficiency, renewable energy and energy management. The Awards aim to encourage greater private sector interest to incorporate sustainable and innovative features into their projects in the region.
